After I helped Eddy to carry the kitchen furniture into the house, it was (again) hard labour for him. During our lunch interval we puzzled how he has to place the cabinets. The next day he started with the placement. And this was the result of the first day !

Some finishing touches at the house.
This is the master-bedroom. I used my beloved curtains from the old house. The old wardrobe I 've painted in light beige, and I am thinking to use wall paper in a coffee and milk brown colour.
The door of the bedroom is in the same colour as the wardrobe.
There is a modern wardrobe with black glass on the other side of the room, because Eddy liked to have one.
I like to have a fire place and two easy chairs in the room too... It's a big room, so that is possible. And I only have to choose into our shop.....

Jarno's room is in black, grey and heavy red. Colours for a real boy... We still have to finish the painting. The red wall is finished, the sealing (white) and the grey wall's are not finished yet. I asked him to paint it himself, and the result was that the sealing was grey too... anyway he has to finish this month his grey walls. I will do the finishing touch, but he has to fill in the grey wall's.

Details in the bathroom
We do not have water into the upstairs bathroom untill next Monday, but we are proud on the result of our paint- and other work. We moved the cabinet from our shop to the bathroom. This is a good example for our customers what you can do with our furniture, isn't it ?%5D.JPG)

This is one of our old looking heating-radiators, they are made in cast-iron like in the 1900's... We are going to sell them in our antique shop Den Ouden Overzet. I am glad, the bathroom is becoming like I would have it : soft, romantic and old-fashioned but comfortable with lot's of space.
Although it is still in the making...
Marshmellow (Marchie) our cat was so curious about everything.... she jumped here and there.... even into
Eddy his famous "old" bath,....

The upstairs bathroom
This are the huge bleu-stone plates that Eddy and a friend placed into the shower... You can imagine they had a lot of work with it. But the result is plendid ! Just imagine our "old days", this shower can be used as a drive-in shower for a wheel chair...%5D.JPG)

This picture is a little bit "blurry", that's because of my camera. Sometimes I can take a good picture, but often it is "moved" and "blurry". But I cannot wait to let you all know how the work is in progress here.
Wednesday Eddy and me did some teamwork in the morning...
At first I painted the fine details from the wainscot, and then he filled in the rest. And we even didn't quarrel or bothered each other ! Great !!! Next morning I did the second coat of paint. So that is finished also... Saturday I am going to paint the sealing and the walls.

Today the plumber is here to installate the antique radiators of the bathroom and to give us water on the first and second floor. Before we had to go downstairs, to the groundfloor, to get water. (I told you that we are still "camping" in the house !) Also the electricians are here to do the finishing work for electricity.
This morning I was awake at 5:30, so did our rooster..... That's why I started very early this morning to finish the red wall into the bedroom of Jarno. Yesterday I let him paint the first coating. (A part of the sealing is red for the moment too !!!) There is no one to take pictures from me when I am working on the house. So I have to take some pic's after the work is done. This evening I will finish the little details with the fine pencil, and after that I will take some new photo's. I asked Eddy to put the cupboard already into the bathroom. Now we still can pass by the stairs. When the smith has finished the banisters, we cannot go through with that huge cupboard. Also I have found into my stock a nice piece of material that I can use to make the curtains for the bathroom. (We have to buy from time to time patterns to show our customers when they come for upholstering their chairs and seats. I never throw those samples away, lucky me !)
pffffftttt, ..... It is going fast now. Don't you agree ???
The balcony and the terrace
Now we can enjoy our terrace.... thanks Mr. Jan Smego (the smith)...

June 2010
I have some bad news : my camera is damaged by the thieves who have visited our house a few weeks ago. Thanks to the advice of some friends I could recuperate some of the pic's I had already on the camera.
But now you are missing the HUGE work of placing the enormous bleu tiles in our "walk-in-shower". Eddy has done this work with the help of a friend. The stones were so heavy, it wasn't possible to do this alone.
As you can see on the pic's I polished the floor tiles, so they were darker bleu than in the beginning.
The kitchen furniture (designed by myself !) is finished and awaiting to be placed. Eddy made it in oak, I asked in pine-wood because I wanted to paint it in old French bleu or green, but now I am going to oil it.
The terrace floor is finished by the contractor, we were waiting for the smith to place the partition, balustrade and out-door stairs.
In the bathroom, Eddy has started yesterday to place the wooden wainscot. After that, the plumber can installate the antique radiators and the bath.
Also yesterday I've bought with Jarno the paint for his room : warm red and grey. We have found in Oxford, England the black curtains he wanted. They were inexpensive there.
For our room I have painted wednesday, our antique Louis XV wardrobe in light-beige. It took a whole day... Three coatings and than I sandpapered the sculptures. So it looks as old as it is now.
As soon as the camera is repared, I will place the photo's. And I keep you guys informed !!!

Public sale on internet....
After the experience , gained while buying the kitchen for the ground floor appartement, I tried a second time to buy something on an internet auction.
With succes ! I bought a double bed, two pairs of sheets, plaids, cussions and two footstools for Tabitha's room. (After sending her the pictures and informing if she liked this bedroom)
It was very exciting. That day, it was rather calm in our shop, no visitors at all.... untill the auction was online, I had placed my offer, and I was waiting the two last minutes before assignment... HELP !!! Luckely Eddy just entered the shop and he could help the customers.
After tomorrow, thursday, we have to collect the items I bought. I have bought also some extra cussions and sheets.
Tabitha and Jarno have had only a one-person bed untill this. Their first beds after the babybed. But they are grown up now and Jarno is soooo tall, he needed a larger bed. That means I need other sheets... that's why I bought them on the same auction.
I think I am going to order a box spring for him by one of our wholesale dealers. He wanted one in black...
This moment, Eddy has hired an elevator to move the kitchen-cupboards to the first floor. And his iron bath on legs.
I think more news and pictures about that tomorrow !
Flooring the hall
The hall is finished with the same tiles as in our bathroom. Old looking bleu and sandstone.
Like in a real old/antique Belgian mansion. I love it !
After this we have to move to the first floor, than Dimitri and Eddy can finish the groundfloor.
Exciting !!!

Going like a train !
It is going like a train now !!!
This is how we are camping in our house... a real adventure. Still no kitchen, so it needs some inspiration to make fresh food without a cooking-rage and an oven, but it works. But we have more time now to prepare the works for the day after.
I am working in the garden at evening, the weather is good. But there in no-one to take pictures ! Grmbl...
This week, Dimitri, the flooring contractor, began into our living room. With a (little ?) helping hand from Eddy. No, not a "little" helping hand .... it takes a lot of time to prepare everything, and Eddy can spare a lot of time for Dimitri.
Finding this young man, is like finding a "treasure". His price is good and he works from 7 in the morning untill 7 in the evening ! And his work is really excellent !!! He is working so hard with a super result, we are really super-satisfied...
There was a lot of work to grind the floortiles, but this was the result after a day of hard work for both...
The next day Dimitri has finished the whole floor from the living room and the hall on our storey. Beautiful result isn't it ? I feel so satisfied.
The third day Dimitri and Eddy began into the bathroom. I have choosen a pattern in bleu and beige for this room. Like in the old European 19th century mansions.
During those few day, they learned to work together and the work was running like a train !!!
But credit where credit is due : the greatest "artist" for this work is Dimitri. Anyone interested ? His firm is " 't Klinkerke" from Melsele. He is worthy to be recommended. See also his website.
This is the result from this afternoon, in the meantime the bathroom is finished as well as the
toilet. Tomorrow they are going to begin on the groundfloor in the hall. Curious ??? Take a look tomorrow on this blog !
And Eddy is working for my kitchen furniture too. But that take some time, because he has only half an hour here and half an hour there to spend. But no worry, it's gonna be beautiful !
I am going to sleep well !
